April 2006 "Seniors" Reunion

Dear school friend,

Here we are again and this time we are delighted to confirm that the Camps Bay Bowling Club has been booked for lunch on Friday, 21st April 2006. As you probably know we had hoped to hold the next reunion at Suikerbossie, but they let us down and could not accommodate us on the date we requested. The Bowling Club was able to help us out and whilst it is somewhat smaller than Suikerbossie its location, directly opposite the school, couldn't be better. In all probability there will be an opportunity for a nostalgic visit to the old school building after lunch. This should be quite a trip down memory lane as we remember old friends and teachers and those uncomplicated days of our youth!

The charge for lunch will be less than was anticipated from Suikerbossie - expected to be in the order of R80 - R100. This could be a problem for some of us but in the past generous individuals have offered to help and an obvious way of bringing the price down is through voluntary contributions. If you would like to pledge a cash donation or sponsor one or more attendees, please send an email to april2006@campsbayschoolreunion.com or contact one of the organisers directly to discuss. The menu is still to be decided but it looks like we might be treated to lamb on the spit for lunch. Nearer the time we will send out a further notice advising the cost and other details and we hope that you will make every effort to be there.

This reunion is for pupils who started Sub-A in or before 1955, including those who only spent a few years at Camps Bay during that era and then moved elsewhere to complete their schooling. If you are 55 or older you will almost certainly qualify. Attendance at the reunion is restricted to former pupils of Camps Bay School, so partners are excluded unless they also qualify.

A database of past pupils has been maintained on a best efforts basis since the first reunion. There are a few missing names and some information is undoubtedly out of date. We need volunteers in each year to contact as many class mates as possible to help us fill in the gaps and encourage them to attend the reunion. Please contact Nel, Pam or Gerda if you can assist.

This confirmation mail is being sent to give every one plenty of time to make arrangements to be there. The 21st April 2006 is the Friday after Easter/Pesach so school holidays will be over and accommodation should be reasonably easy to find for those who will be coming from out of town. The two previous "seniors" reunions were both tremendously successful, but as this will probably be the last one to specifically target this particular era we need everyone there to make this one the best ever!!!!
